Indaba 2011

 

The South African Museums Association (KZN Region) is the professional organisation that promotes museums within the province of KwaZulu-Natal.

SAMA KZN Region has co-ordinated and organised the province's museum participation at Indaba 2011. This will the third year in which museum's of the province have combined their finances and marketing skills to promote museums within the province to the international and national travel trade.

 

As the storehouses of the heritage of our country and its peoples it is important that we encourage visitors to view and experience our wide and varied history. Museums are educational and cultural awareness centres for our youth and by marketing our museums in a combined manner we are able to promote visits to all our museums.

 

This year the Museums of KZN are not only promoting museums at the international Indaba exhibition, but in September will also be promoting and publishing our museums to local people at the Natal witness Garden and Home Show in Pietermaritzburg. The same exhibit that has been designed for Indaba will be used for this exhibit and the same brochures and promotional CD's will be distributed.

A six month free entry ticket will be handed out to members of the public and when these are used in participating museums we will be able to measure the success of this new marketing venture.

 

The corporate logo for this year has had a slight new look. This design is used on the cover of the CD, booklet and on T shirts worn by museum staff manning the stand at the shows.
